My personal style, DRESSING UP, OVER AND AGAIN, is based on my what I call my ABC s...Assembling Building and Constructing using Color, Texture and Layering with my body as my armature. Where there is creativity there are NO rules, where there are NO rules there is no fear.To me, Style is Healing. Dress to DE-stress. I believe Frugality is Fun and love working with sustainable materials which I have been doing for more than 50 years. These everyday found materials that show up in my environment speak to me. In my creations, as well as my life, I am in playful exploration of beauty and ingenuity. I am a maker and enjoy the process of getting my hands dirty while manipulating materials. I am not a shopper but a searcher for things that can have another life through transformation, hence keeping them out of the landfill.
To me everything is a HAT, be it a paper bag, a lampshade or a vase. They can all be inter changeable. I allow the materials to speak to me and then create forms that enhance the face. My philosophy is "FRAME THE FACE"
There are creative solutions throughout life. It is wonderful to age with more freedom and vitality, wisdom and experience and eccentricity and elegance. IT IS better with AGE!

Hattie's inspiration is from landscape, art, poetry and from the eclectic nature of the materials themselves. Soon after she started her brand she realized she could make jewellery that is sustainable from 100% recycled silver, vintage stones rather than new-mined. This process also includes using kitchen cupboard ingredients instead of toxic chemicals and the packaging recycled too.
It all started in London, in her flat overlooking Queen’s Wood. Hattie had been making jewellery since she was a child, from bottle tops, tin cans and beads from old necklaces. The design challenge always appealed to me; how to make something beautiful that is also strong and sits well on the body. She went to Cambridge to study English Literature, and while in college she received a City and Guilds qualification in silversmithing . She always put jewellery making second to academic work, while studying at the University College London and receiving a PhD at Oxford. In 2014 she returned to London to be closer to other academics working in my field, but decided found writing an incredible strain and finally put jewellery making before her other passions.
ORMAN was created by Setenay Orman in 2018. The company is based in Stockholm, Sweden, where each piece is designed and developed with the technique of lost-wax casting. All production takes place in the production atelier in Istanbul, Turkey.
ORMAN combines lines of fine jewelry with the imperfections of handcrafted items. All jewelry is made of 925 sterling silver and micro-plated with 18 k yellow gold, rose gold or rhodium for color and luster, the fine jewelry collection is made in 18 k solid gold. Each piece is made to order with the vast expertise of experienced craftsmen in Istanbul, all to ensure quality and uniqueness while keeping a sustainable approach in production. She draws inspiration from everything that creates interesting shapes and angles that lures the eye to further examination, making all the pieces in the collections true statements pieces.
ORMAN stems from the designer's belief that fashion, and jewelry in particular, always can and should stand the test of time. That's why ORMAN introduces new timeless collections sporadically, not succumbing to the fast pace of fashion trends. Every collection and each piece of jewelry are permanent, never rendering any single product and purchase obsolete or out of style.
